She was born and raised in Elmo and Consumers July 13, 1931 to Harold LaVar Atwood and Eunice Marie Overson. She married Don Allred Sept. 3, 1949 and the marriage was later solemnize d in the Manti LDS Temple Jan. 31, 1964. She spent most of her adult life in Cleveland and Huntington and then moved to Vernal about 10 years ago. She loved singing, playing instruments by ear or with music, sewing and was an excellent seamstress. She loved making quilt tops, walking with friends, doing yard work, flowers, birds and going to the temple. Vonnie was a very active member of th e LDS Church. She loved her many church callings and had a great sense of humor and loved to associate with others. She was very generous and giving. She liked to create her own patterns and coordinate colors for her quilt tops. She liked beautifu l things and loved cooking. She is preceded in death by parents; brother, Sheldon Atwood; son, Troy Allred; grandson, Chad Bell and great-granddaughter. She is survived in death by sons, Ivan Scott (Irene) Allred, Dick R. (Raelene) Allred, Jed D. (Kim) Allred; daughters, Dawnette (Gregg) Simmons, Ardyth (Marvin) Bell, Vallene Rudd; and very close cousin Dorothy D. Johnson; 20 grandchildren and aro und 37 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 4, at 11 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center. Viewing was at the mortuary on Tuesday, June 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment be in the Cleveland City Cemetery under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary . Vernal Express, June 12, 2008 |
