Finda grave Lester was born April 28, 1910, on a farm near Dell Rapids, SD, to Andrew and Laura Estergaard Jorgensen. He attended a rural Moody County school and worked as a farmhand during his early years. He began farming west of Flandreau in 1938 and marri ed Grace Halter on June 1, 1939, at Colman, SD. They continued to farm in Clare Township for 37 years. Lester enjoyed working the land. He served on the Chamberlin School Board, Board of Director of the Community Oil Station and served on the Clar e Township Board a number of years. In 1976 he retired from farming and they moved to Brookings, SD, where they resided for 19 years. Lester loved to pitch horseshoe when he retired and was proud of his National Horseshoe Trophy given at Spearfish , SD.

He is survived by his wife, Grace, Brookings, SD; one daughter, Judy Ledbetter and her husband Robert, Las Vegas, NV; two sons: Glenn and his wife, Ruth, Baker city, OR, Richard and his wife, Cindy, Flandreau, SD; five grandchildren: Brenna, Kyla , Abby, Heather and Greg; one brother, Luverne, Colman, SD; three sisters: Ingrid, Mrs. Paul Payne, Tucson, AZ, Dorothy Chapman and Margaret Headrick, both of California. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Laura, and his brother , Howard.
