Pedersen, 90, lifelong resident of Carter Township near Flaxton, ND, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at Trinity Hospital in Minot. Ivan Neils Pedersen was born June 14, 1926, the son of Neils A. and Margrethe (Christensen) Pedersen, on the family farm near Flaxton, ND. He was raised on the family farm and attended a country school in the area. He then attended Flaxton High Sc hool. As a young adult, he assisted his father with the operation of the family farm. Ivan married Neomia Pauline “Tootie” Hass November 13, 1945, in Plentywood, Montana. They made their home on the Pedersen family farm where he farmed all his life. In the 1960s, he worked in the oil field to supplement his farm income. They beca me close to the Lee Carter family during these years. Pauline passed away May 31, 2012. He was a member of the Carter Township Board. Ivan was proud to be a farmer. He loved to watch crops grow and enjoyed taking drives just to “check” on the countryside. He also loved auction sales, Ford pickups, horses and cattle. He had a feisty spirit and an excellent memory right up unti l his death. He was always interested in oil activity in western North Dakota. Most of all, he was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His loving family includes: children, Linda (Larry) Anderson, Des Lacs, ND, Steven (Corrine Krueger) Pedersen, Minot, ND, and Karen (LeRoy) Bachmeier, New Hope, MN; grandsons, Travis Bachmeier and Ryan (Amber) Bachmeier; great-grandchildren, Blake , Anna and Rooney Bachmeier, all of Minneapolis, MN; sisters-in-law, Helen Steffen, Fargo, ND, Margaret Hass, Minot, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline; an infant sibling; and sister, Helga Woods Murphy. A Memorial Service: will take place at a later date in the spring of 2017. Interment: Bowbells Community Cemetery, Bowbells, ND. |
